Fermi on Knowledge and Ignorance

Regarding some of the comments on this site, equating any and all adverse observations about French policy with nothing less than callousness, wickedness, cowardice, treachery, and treason (this from people who love nothing more than to proclaim that they are not anti-American — far from it — they are only against Washington's policies), it is no bad thing to remember that today is the birthday of Enrico Fermi, the Italian-born US physicist (1901-1954) who said:
It is no good to try to stop knowledge from going forward. Ignorance is never better than knowledge.
and
There's two possible outcomes: if the result confirms the hypothesis, then you've made a discovery. If the result is contrary to the hypothesis, then you've made a discovery.
