What Do French Cartoons on Russia's Crimea Annexation Look Like?

Le Monde has been printing a number of cartoons but, needless to say, few (such as the Xavier Gorce and the Plantu cartoons above) that are very hard-hitting — their point being indeed kind of obscure. One exception might be the Xavier Gorce penguin cartoon below.

Then again, we have the cartoon of a Bonhomme, which paints moral equivalence between "the great powers", the U.S. and Russia along with the EU, with (a unified?!) Ukraine a poor innocent victim of them all…

One Small Problem with Cartoons and Pundits Mocking Conservatives

Again, we are treated to cartoons mocking conservatives (drawn by cartoonists foreign as well as domestic"), based upon nothing that the conservatives say, upon nothing that the conservatives do, and upon nothing that the conservatives even go so far as to think.

As Ann Coulter writes in Mugged, there's a reason the left has to always find code words for racism behind everything conservatives say: because there is nothing remotely racist in what they are actually saying (or actually thinking, for that matter).

Sending a Strong Signal to Russia

Master of the Universe

 • Okay, let's take a vote: Who's in favor of the embargo?

• Perfect, that will send a strong signal: a full halt to chewing gum exports towards Russia

How to Recognize a Fascist — According to a Russian

Xavier Gorce:

• Let's take another look on the main way to recognize a Fascist:
It's someone who doesn't speak Russian

French Conservatives Revolt Over School Books Such As "Daddy Wears a Dress"

The latest scandal in France concerns the ubiquitousness in schools of "children's" books with titles such as Tous à poil ! (Everybody Drop Your Clothes), Papa porte une robe (Daddy Wears a Dress), Tango a deux papas (Tango Has Two Dads), and Jean a deux mamans (Johnny Has Two Mommies) — a subject which leftist Le Monde  dismisses as "not very subversive" and which allows for a cartoon by an outraged cartoonist (Xavier Gorce), while Plantu uses the subject to bring in the current criticisms of the tax authorities.

Gaël Pasquier is interviewed by Mattea Battaglia concerning a thesis on teaching kindergarten kids about "the equality of sexes and sexualities" (« Les pratiques enseignantes en faveur de l'égalité des sexes et des sexualités à l'école primaire : vers un nouvel élément du curriculum »).

"The Lesson That Mandiba Gave History": Le Monde's Nelson Mandela Tributes

Needless to say, Le Monde has been overflowing with Nelson Mandela tributes, from Plantu (with his black Madiba/white Madiba harmonious pairing) to readers such as Bruno Spagnulo on "the lesson he gave History"
Meanwhile, Guy Abeille writes

Xavier Gorce:

• Have you heard?
Nelson Mandela has died.

• Again?!

Racist! Le Monde's Mandela Cartoon

 Xavier Gorce

• Hey, d'ja wanna buy a Mandela mug?
• Nope

• How 'bout a Mandela towel?
A Mandela tablecloth?

• Hold on, I got Mandela key chains, mousepads, USB keys, snow globes…

• I don't want any Mandela products

• Racist!

Anyone Countering Leftist "Reforms" Is Now an "Immobilist"

To no one's surprise, Xavier Gorce manages to demonize anyone opposed to leftist reforms:

• And here we have our best-selling No sign model: light, sober, always in fashion…

It can be adapted to any theme: open unions, gay marriage, school controversies…

• Ideal for counter-protesting any type of reform…

• It is the sign for all mobilized immobilists

Texas Vilified in Le Monde for Being "the State Most Hostile to ObamaCare"

Corine Lesnes travels to Irving to write an article for Le Monde full of spite for Texas, for the Tea Partiers, for Rick Perry, etc, etc, etc.

Susan Norwood, 63 ans, y a déjà pris goût.
Readers are as full of spite as spite as Corine Lesnes:
OlivierW — Un bel article, bravo !

Meanwhile, Xavier Gorce had the following to say about France's health care system:

• My mother had a mild heart attack. Can we see an emergency doctor?

• That's impossible: mornings we only have one and he is making the beds…

• FYI: Better to have your mild heart attacks after 2 PM

NSA Spying: Who's Listening on This Phone?

Xavier Gorce:

• But of course I love you mommy!

• No, I wasn't talking to you!

• I know I told you to "f*ck off"

• No, I'm not telling you again to "f*ck off"!

• For Chrissakes! I was talking to the NSA spies!

• F*ck off, NSA!

• beep beep beep

• Mom, was that you who hanged up or was it the NSA guy?

Again, "Dialogue" for the Left Amounts to Rejecting Any Argument by Their Adversaries as Nothing More Than Inanities

Xavier Gorce again demonizes the adversaries of global warming:
• So, according to our latest scientific projec-tions…
• Global warming might precipitate a change of one meter…
• the drop of the climate skeptics into their inanities…
• Easily…

French Cartoonist Uses Boston Terror Attack to Lash Out at… Handguns?!?!

• The question we must ask is: who can be so hateful towards this type of sport?

Since a leftist is at the helm of the White House, Le Monde's Xavier Gorce makes a totally asinine cartoon — deliberately abstaining from making any profound statement on terrorism or on the state of our world — while Plantu uses his cartoon not to damn terrorism — let alone to say that America and it's president are somehow responsible — but to demonize… handguns?!?!

No statement à la "The question we must ask is: did America create these terrorists?" from this crew, as in Bush's time…

Those Wicked, Wicked Bankers! You Know Where All Those Bastards Are From, Dont'cha?

Xavier Gorce:
• So many bank charges for one tiny overdraft?!
• I hate bankers!
• They're all Krauts!
• So they're not Jews anymore?!

DSK's Travails Remain the Main Subject of French Cartoons

20 Nobel Prize Winners Are to Put Humanity on Trial
• One of the members of the Nobel "jury":
I wouldn't mind finding a broad for a quick lay…
• Uncle Sam: Oh? Has a Frenchman won the Nobel Prize?

To no one's surprise, Dominique Strauss-Kahn has been a subject of French cartoons non-stop since last week, as the following batch will testify to, with Plantu and Xavier Gorce regularly intertwining the DSK scandal with other news of the day (such as the reform of France's justice system; the Rio-Paris flight crash; a Stockholm initiative to put humanity on trial by a jury of Nobel Prize winners for its alleged felonies against the plaintiff, Planet Earth; the Middle East's Palestinian problem, with Benjamin Netanyahu's visit to Barack Obama's White House, etc)…

• A judge to another magistrate bringing the file on French Justice Reform: Yes?… Uhhh… Okay! Leave it there!

• An unfathomable catastrophe…
• Terrible images…
• What happened?

• Let's hope that thanks to the black boxes, we will be able to understand the reasons for the crash…

•… of Flight DSK 2012

The Hollande Phenomenon
• Socialist Party leader François Hollande:
Hey! Terrific the number of people showing up for my speeches!

• Gotta do it now!
• Go for it Martine!
• Go!
• Yeah!
• Press on!
• You're doin' good!

Martine Aubry: Hey dudes, cool it. The decision is up to me!

Martine Aubry: You never bully a woman into doing what she doesn't want to do!

• Greek: Oh! That must be the IMF loan that I've been waiting for?!!
• (IMF?) Suit: Hands off! It's the bail money for DSK!

But even prior to the scandal, DSK was no newcomer to French cartoons…

How can you claim to be on the left while driving a Porsche?

• DSK: It's a matter of options

• [Musical sounds]

• DSK: My horn plays the Internationale
