Elia Kazan on Witches and Other Figments of the Imagination

Regarding the charade of terrorists being only a figment of the imagination or being easily amenable at the negotiation table if only a bit of understanding, brainpower, and patience were shown them, today is the birthday of Elia Kazan, the director who said the following, in the wake of criticism regarding his decision to testify before the HUAC commission regarding the McCarthyite "witch hunt" (Kazan went on to film On the Waterfront, of course).

Witches do not exist, but Stalin's infiltration plans, his spies, and his propaganda vere very much real…
