As the 1619 Project wins a Pulitzer Prize (showing exactly, if it is still necessary, how much — or, rather, how little — the "Walter Duranty" prize is worth) — albeit, only for commentary — the Capital Research Center points out that among the project's "sturdy scholarly source[s]" who stand outraged about American slavery, is one Professor Gerald Horne, who turns out to be "a fringe academic" harboring, as he does, "a soft spot" for Zimbabwe's Robert Mugabe, Cuba's Fidel Castro, and even the Soviet Union's Joseph Stalin.
American slavery bad? Agreed.
But where are the principles involved when one professor who (rightly) joins in condemning slavery (albeit only in America) turns out to be someone with "a fetish for authoritarian terror" abroad?
As you can see, the only time that slavery, or murder, or society in general, or anything at all, is/are bad — actually a shame and a disgrace and an outrage — it's when they take place in the U.S. of A., and in its free market system.
When they concern any other country or any other system — especially if they are rivals of Uncle Sam — then they are not only neutral, they are a positive good.
